The International Cricket Council (ICC) declared to held first Test Cricket Championship to preserve the future of this traditional format of cricket. England will host this inaugural Test championship 2017. A handsome prize for this inaugural Championship is declared amounting $10 Million. Four top ranking teams will participate in this championship. This ranking will be based on their performance during 1st May, 2013 to 31 December, 2013. So this period is now qualifying round for all Test Teams. As per current ranking status South Africa is on top and next three are England, India and Australia respectively. West Indies is at number five and after it Pakistan and Sri Lanka respectively. David Richardson Chief Executive of ICC said “The objective of the championship is to preserve the primacy of Tests and to preserve the future of all formats of the game,”. ICC wants to stable the importance of Test Cricket to save it in future, as now a days cricket has become too fast after introducing T20I. T02I has become most popular format of cricket, which is considered as real threat for Test format.
